Internships

CQN believes that hands-on experience outside the academic laboratory is an important part of graduate student education. In our first full year of operation, CQN graduate students worked at internships in the following organizations:

  • ASML
  • Authentic8
  • NASA
  • Psi Quantum
  • Qubitekk
  • Sandia National Laboratories

Below, you can read about some of our graduate and undergraduate students currently exploring internship opportunities.

Ali Cox

Degree track: PhD
Estimated graduation date: 2024
Relevant experience: Designed and analyzed the performance of an entanglement-assisted barcode reader, obtaining an upper bound for the Chernoff exponent for discriminating among arbitrary objects. Simulated state trajectories of a superconducting cavity qubit to determine its most likely path under continuous partial measurement. Performed absorption and emission spectroscopy on CdSe quantum dots to characterize their size and compare with the theoretical prediction of the spherical well model. Proposed a new sail design for single-hull sail boats and optimized its parameters using computational fluid dynamics.
