About Research at the Center
The technical goal of CQN is to develop an error-corrected quantum network with connectivity with a rate of entanglement distribution of 1 megaqubit per second over metropolitan-scale distances, simultaneously for multiple user pairs, supported on a network backbone made of optical fibers, quantum repeaters and switches. The technical goal can be broken into three subgoals, or thrusts, operating at different layers and scales. Our research also includes a fourth thrust focused on the social, economic, and political context so that the Quantum Internet is likely to function well in a practical, and not purely technical, sense.
